Jam, please stop spamming! You don't need to worry too much about HeartBleed, it's just what they recommend. Apparently no one as of yet apart from those who discovered the vulnerability at google know about it and there's been no reported attacks.
Hello everyone, some of you may know of the Heart Bleed Bug and how dangerous it has made the internet, your privacy and safety lately. Well I'm here to explain a little bit more about them and how you can prevent these sites/the bug from affecting you. Here are some sources of what it is:
'An exploit known as "Heartbleed” Bug has shown up in the OpenSSL cryptographic library, and it could essentially allow attackers to gain access to highly sensitive information, including credit card numbers, usernames, passwords, and other sensitive data.'
-The Epoch Times
The Heartbleed Bug is a serious vulnerability in the popular OpenSSL cryptographic software library. This weakness allows stealing the information protected, under normal conditions, by the SSL/TLS encryption used to secure the Internet. SSL/TLS provides communication security and privacy over the Internet for applications such as web, email, instant messaging (IM) and some virtual private networks (VPNs). The Heartbleed bug allows anyone on the Internet to read the memory of the systems protected by the vulnerable versions of the OpenSSL software. This compromises the secret keys used to identify the service providers and to encrypt the traffic, the names and passwords of the users and the actual content. This allows attackers to eavesdrop on communications, steal data directly from the services and users and to impersonate services and users.
As you can see, this is very dangerous. The bug has already had an effect on Mojang and it's servers(Some of you may have experienced Authentication issues, errors whilst joining servers, and other forms of errors due to this bug). The team over at Mojangstress that anyone who has logged into Minecraft or any other Mojang games to change their passwords immediately.
We've now completed the migration of servers and it went through successfully, and on time!
Can't connect to PrisonHeist? The DNS may not have updated for you yet (as this server has a new IP). DNS can take up to 48 hours to propagate. It's usually in about 30 minutes though. Once it's updated for you you'll notice that you can continue to connect via what ever hostname you used previously (such as mc.PrisonHeist.net). If you're desperate to get onto PrisonHeist you can connect to 220.127.116.11 and it will pass you through to the server.
Any questions feel free to ask or join our teamspeak server ts3.prisonheist.net
A new version of Minecraft has been released (version 1.7.7), if you update your client to 1.7.7 you will not be able to play on PrisonHeist!
Spigot has not currently released a 1.7.7 version so I'm unable to upgrade the server! As soon as an update has been released we will let you know.
If you have updated your client don't worry you can skip back a version! When you open the minecraft launcher in the bottom left corner there's a button that says 'Edit Profile', click this and near the bottom of the window that appears it says "Use version: release 1.7.7", from the drop down box select another version (preferably 1.7.5). 1.7.2->1.7.5 will work on PrisonHeist.
Remember: The server will be undergoing planned maintenance tomorrow Thursday the 10th April 2014 at 7PM (GMT+1/BST - UK time) Roughly 2PM (EDT), 1PM (PDT), 8PM (CEST) The server will be down for any time between 1 and 2 hours! If Spigot release 1.7.7 by then we will upgrade to it, otherwise refrain from updating or change the version of your profile (it can always be changed back).
We've just purchased a new dedicated server, here's the specification of our new server:
64GB DDR3 ECC memory clocked at 1600MHz
Intel Xeon E5-1620v2 (4 cores, 8 threads and 3.9 GHz)
Gigabit (1000Gbps) uplink
500Mbps outbound bandwidth
Cisco ASR 9001 120Gbps DDoS protection - 360Gbps DDoS mitigation.
This server has cost us a lot of money but thanks to the continued support of all of the PrisonHeist community we're able to upgrade the hardware and provide a better service for all.
Due to this upgrade we will be needing to take the server offline for between 1 to 2 hours to migrate everything over. We will be going down on Thursday the 10th April 2014 at 7PM (GMT+1/BST - UK time) Roughly 2PM (EDT), 1PM (PDT), 8PM (CEST)
We expect that the downtime will run until 8:30PM, however if anything happens we'll update on this post.
